not me! monday and i need some help!

i totally did NOT scream and freak out last night when i came home after being gone for two weeks and discover that my husband painted the kitchen. don't get me wrong.... this was a good freaking out! what a huge surprise! i still can't believe that he did that for me. THANK YOU SO MUCH HUN!

this morning i did NOT not move all the stuff on the kitchen counter onto the table to take a picture, then move everything back onto the counter to take a picture of the rest of the kitchen. nope, i didn't because my house is always clean, spotless, and there is absolutely no clutter in my kitchen. (although i now realize you can see the clutter at the very right of the picture. but i suppose it's not really clutter since it's laundry waiting to happen.... and it's not in the kitchen, it's behind the kitchen!)

in my moving clutter from the counter to the table, table to the counter, i did NOT discover half of an apple pie from two weeks ago that is now nice and molded and stenchful. yes, it is full of stench! and after i discovered it i did NOT contemplate throwing the whole thing away and buying another $4 pie pan. and it is NOT still sitting on the counter awaiting its fate.

all right... so onto the part where i need your help. i had originally planned to paint the kitchen a light yellow color. i thought it would brighten up the plain white paint, but not be too yellow. that, and we had about 4 gallons of yellow paint that was leftover from a job ben did a few years ago. but then i got to thinking that my cream cabinets would look washed out with a light yellow wall and painting the cabinets was not an option. so i decided i wanted a maroon/red color on the 2 walls with the cabinets. WHICH I ABSOLUTELY LOVE NOW! so the other walls (the white walls in the pictures) would be the light yellow. but now after seeing the dark color i'm second guessing the light yellow. i don't know if it will be too light, and i don't know if i should just paint my already small kitchen all red/maroon and make it even smaller! so i need a little color help. my painter husband is in the mood for painting so i gotta take advantage of that when it comes around! can't wait for your input!

the washer, dryer and a small bathroom wraps around behind the stove. so i'd paint that back there too.

the thing underneath the window would GO! actually, i'm pretty certain it will go anyway. it was my attempt at hiding paint buckets and such a few years ago. i think i'll have my dad make a buffet to put there. by the way, dad, if you're reading this, can you make me a buffet?! :-)

catching up some more

i had a wonderful visit with my parents, sisters, nieces, and nephew while in grand rapids. we got to go on a field trip to the fire station and to an alpaca farm with heather's school, we went to blackduck, minnesota, home of the designer fabric outlet, i got to see some friends that i haven't seen in a while, we visited my grandma and the kids enjoyed picking a pumpking from her garden, and i totally took advantage of taco john's! (no, there isn't a taco john's in kansas city, so one of the highlights of my trips to MN is eating there!)

on sunday heather drove me to albert lea, mn to meet ben there. i am so lucky to not have to drive 10 hours by myself with two kids...!!! thanks family!

catching up

my parents came down for a visit on tuesday, october 7th. we had a wonderful vist. when they got there on tuesday evening, we had a quick dinner then went to ben's softball games, in which he skinned up the sides of both legs..... let me just say that you should be glad i didn't take pictures because it was pretty bad!

on wednesday we worked on miscellaneous projects around the house. i don't know how this happened but my mom ended up helping me wash the windows. i never wash the windows. i haven't in about 2 years. so why we ended up washing them i have no idea. what a nice way to treat my mom on her vacation, huh! :-)

on thursday mom, ryan, and i went shopping while samantha stayed home to play legos with papa. little did we know we'd be gone for 5 hours. oops!

on friday we went to penguin park and had a picnic. right when we got there samantha got stung by a bee. thankfully i had a princess ice pack in the cooler so it didn't swell up.

we had a fun filled day on saturday. we went to a children's farmstead in overland park, kansas. we had a great morning there. i thought it would be a fun field trip for samantha, but i think we all enjoyed it.

on monday the 13th my parents had to go back to minnesota. and the kids and i went with them. (yes, it was planned!) the kids were pretty good, so we had a nice 10 hour trip!

not me! monday

it's monday again! and what a great way to start a week by being totally honest about the previous one! :-) here's what i didn't do last week:

i did NOT go to target for nothing and end up spending $123.28!

i did NOT enjoy the fact that samantha had a fever for couple days. although if i had enjoyed it, it would be because we had to stay home and therefore i got more housecleaning done!

i did NOT make a pan of delicious brownies and have one for breakfast every morning.

i did NOT secretly throw away some of samantha's "stuff" that i didn't want cluttering up the house.

i did NOT start crying while smelling a candle in wal-mart the other night. nope, that would be a little crazy!

i did NOT make samantha babysit ryan in their room while i took a bath the other morning.

and i did NOT put my head under the water so i couldn't hear ryan crying.

time to create your own not me post! hop on over to mckmama's blog to join in the fun and read what everyone else has NOT been doing!
