not me! monday

but as for me...

i have NOT been neglecting my blog (and everyone else's) for the last 2 weeks because it has NOT taken me that long to get back into my routine after coming back from minnesota.

ryan's fingers did NOT almost get chopped off this week. he was NOT standing at the screen door and the movable glass (which was UP to let in some air) did NOT break free of the prongy pieces that were holding it up and it did NOT come crashing down on his hand like a guillotine. i did NOT run to him all the while envisioning driving a screaming baby to the ER with his fingertips in a baggie on ice... thankfully he was okay! the glass has NOT been down ever since!

while the kids were taking a bath one night, samantha did NOT start screaming for me and when i ran into the bathroom she was NOT perched on the side of the tub because ryan had NOT pooped in the tub! and two days later he did NOT have a repeat performance!

my mom did NOT write me an email in not me! format. i am NOT convinced that she really wants a blog of her own so that she can do her own not me! monday posts! :-)

the other day when ryan was eating shredded wheat, i did NOT sit idly by and watch him eat all the frosting off of the pieces and then try to put the now un-frosted pieces back in the box. after all, i'm not the one who eats them.... only daddy!

i did NOT miss ben's 1st homerun of the softball season because i was NOT busy talking to my friend. nope, i'm definitely the kind of wife that keeps score of the game so that he can look at his stats afterwards!....softball is definitely NOT social hour for me!

i was NOT surprised with mother's day presents yesterday morning. samantha did NOT make me this beautiful necklace and ben did NOT get me two new CDs. i did NOT have a wonderful mother's day yesterday!

i did NOT post a picture of my horribly messy kitchen in all its glory last night. the state of my living room is NOT the same. and i am NOT going to procrastinate on cleaning them today because going out for chicken tacos is NOT more important!

my babies' boo-boos

today was a day of boo-boos and almost boo-boos, among other things. here's the run-down of our day.

this morning i let the kids soak in the tub for a while. they were so cute and they always have so much fun in tub. usually when i want to take tubby pictures my camera doesn't have a memory card or the battery goes dead. so today i got some pictures of them.

1st boo-boo moment. ryan pulled the corner shelf in the bathroom over on himself. i think he was more scared than hurt though! i'm glad i finally have a tough baby! :-)

after we got ready we went downtown to margaritas to have tacos with the whole family. di and all the kids (except ethan) went and ben and dave met us there since they were working close. YUMMMM! it was so good!

tonight we went to ben's softball game. he'll only have one game on tuesdays now. yea! samantha played on the playground for most of the game. it's right behind the bleachers, so i could keep a good eye on her. there were a lot of kids there and toward the end of the game i couldn't see her, so i went to make sure everything was fine.

2nd boo-boo moment. right when i got to the playground she emerged from the tunnel crying and blood was dripping from her mouth. i looked quick to see how bad it was and determined that it was fixable and wouldn't require stitches or anything. we went to the concession and i got some water and ice and got it all cleaned up. (thanks, papa mike, for watching and entertaining ryan while i cleaned her up!) after she settled down she told me that someone had a softball and they threw it at her and it hit her in the mouth. ouch!

it cut her lip and she bit the inside of her mouth. she said her teeth hurt, but i think they're fine. she goes to the dentist next thursday, so we'll make sure they're okay then. on the way home we stopped to get an ice cream to ease the pain and keep down the swelling!

it cleaned up very well. it looked like there was going to be a blood blister or something on her lip because there was a big spot of blood i couldn't get off at the ball game. but tonight it wasn't there. i guess ice cream is really healing!

after we got home we watched the olympics for a while and ryan was sitting on the floor by the rocking chair.

3rd boo-boo moment. samantha was walking and knocked ryan over into the chair. he didn't get a black eye this time, though! he did, however, get a popsicle to ease the pain and get his mind off of it! i'm sure his gums enjoyed it since he's cutting more teeth. (he got his 4th tooth on sunday and is trying to push two more through.)

4th boo-boo moment. something to do with samantha's finger. i was DONE with boo-boos for today, so i sent her to daddy to have him kiss it.

well all three kids are in bed, so unless i trip up the stairs on my way to bed i think our boo-boo day is over.

miscelaneous happenings

i haven't posted anything in a while, so here's what's been happening. well, what i remember anyway!

last thursday we went to look at a house ben's gonna be painting. it's 7000 sq. feet.....it went on forever it seemed!

thursday evening i helped with the clothing givaway at our church. people bring in gently used or new clothes through the week, then we sort them and set them up in the gym. friday night the church gets to come and get clothing, and on saturday it's open to the community. and it's all free. i got a big bag for the kids and one for ben and i as well. it was fun to get some 'new' clothes since it's too hot to go to garage sales down here!

on saturday ben went to a royals game with his brother tommy and his step-dad mike. so while the boys were out in the 100+ degree heat, us girls went to "horton hears a who" at the $2.00 theater. ben's mom, sister, two nieces, samantha, ryan and i went. it was lots of fun and ryan was actually good for his first movie.

on monday night we went to the new chuck e cheese that's going to open next monday. they're training so we got to go and check it out a week early. we spent 4 hours there! i have to say, though, that it's the nicest one we've ever been to!

tuesday night we went to ben's softball game which they won 11-9. it was actually a nice night and wasn't too hot. it was only 90 degrees when we got there!

tonight ben got to go to another royals game through work so the kids and i went shopping. other than that it's been pretty uneventful.... finally!

three busy weeks... part 1

ok.... travel back in time to about a month ago. heather came friday, june 20th to visit before heading to alaska for the summer. she was able to stay for about a week and a half so we got a lot of stuff in! the day after heather got here ben had an all-day softball tournament, so she got doused with our kansas city heat right away. sunday evening we had my sister-in-law's birthday party. this wasn't "the big one" but she did put on her sunglasses to blow out the candles...! :-) during the week we spent a lot of time shopping, driving around kc, and taking pictures.

a couple days before samantha's birthday she got an early present from auntie kim.... a brand new bike! she was so excited! ben took her to the park a couple times so she could practice riding it. (the sidewalks around our house aren't the greatest for learning how to ride a bike!) she did pretty good!

samantha turned 5 on friday, june 27th. ben had the day off, so we went to cici's pizza for lunch, chuck e cheese's to play, and then to loose park to take some pictures. that night at home she opened her presents from us and we had a mini cake that daddy got for her. on sunday, the 29th, we had her family party at our house. it was a beautiful night. ben grilled and we got to eat outside and enjoy the nice weather. samantha had fun opening her presents and was excited that she got a princess cake!

another fun thing we did while heather was here was riding the kansas city northern railroad. the trains run on a half-mile track. tickets are 50 cents apiece and you get to go around twice. it's actually quite fun. there's even a tunnel and a bridge! samantha loved it. ryan didn't!

we also went to briarcliffe fountain and j. c. nichols fountain on the plaza. it's my favorite fountain in kc and makes for some good pictures!
